I have been a bit absent for a bit. Since last time I shared anything I have been busy packing and getting ready to leave my husband and three older kids for four days (longest I had been gone since my oldest was born), driving 15 hours to Dallas, TX with my three-month-old and a dear friend, attending the Whole Heart Ministries Girls’ Club Getaway where Sally, Joy, and Sarah Clarkson shared and encouraged us, meeting new friends who think Nebraska is always cold, relaxing on a bed that felt like one giant pillow, and driving the same 15 hours trip home.
To say it was exhausting is a bit of an understatement.
But I am so glad I went…
Even though I bawled my eyes out over leaving my family.
Even though the trip was long.
Even though I spent all my money on books (typical me).
Even though I am exhausted.
It was worth it…
To have a renewed sense of the importance of cultivating friendships.
To have a new vision for what it means to mentor my own daughter and foster a relationship that will stand the test of time.
To develop a closer relationship with my travel buddy.
To gain insight from the other women who shared our table.
To learn more about what it means to have a “Girls’ Club” and why the effort to cultivate the deep relationships is worth every ounce of effort.
Tonight my daughter and I shared our own very first “Girls’ Club Meeting,” and I can’t wait to see what transpires in the years to come.
