I’ve enjoyed following along on Word Nerd Wednesdays over at my friend Elizabeth’s blog My Messy Desk as we’ve looked at the Lord’s Prayer. Today, I’m excited to delve into Matthew 6:11. This verse marks the point at which the Lord’s prayer turns from adoration and reverence of God to seeking help with personal needs. It is in this verse we find this week’s word/phrase “this day.”
“Give us this day our daily bread.”

This Day = Only Today
This day is not yesterday…We leave the past behind us as we stand in forgiveness and grace. Our focus is not on what we could have, should have, or would have done differently if we had a chance at a do-over of yesterday.
